"How do I handle tough feedback?"
Wednesday Jan 24, 2024
Wednesday Jan 24, 2024
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
After a series of technical issues, I decided that regardless of if an episode has the perfect editing or catchy song, there's information and there are stories that need to be shared and talked about. So coming through with the iPhone mic, we are back and as grass roots as ever, and I'm cool with that.
In this episode I share a tough encounter with an instructor, and how they unfortunately received and reacted to feedback about a class. With this I share thoughts that have proceeded encounters like this and ask questions to the listener and invite reflection on how we react to tough news and sometimes painful feedback.
My hope is always to encourage communication skills, self reflection and extend an invitation to try to remember humanity when we speak to a boss, or upset class member etc.

I will be honest, I'm STILL fangirling over the fact I got to speak with the one and only, the legend and my fitness hero, Dan Cohen.
Dan Cohen is a Les Mills Program Director on the Creative Team, Speaker and communication coach (which explains how incredible his cues when he teaches, as well as the incredible language he uses teaching us in this episode).
He has a masters in IBC, NLP, TLT, and a he is Hypnosis Coach, and his favorite titles - A father and husband!
In this episode we dive into the layers of linguistics in strong cueing, finding our instructor strengths and strengthening weaknesses. We talk about different stages in our instructor journey and how to continue creating passion and skill through practice, trial and error and continued improvement.
This was a dream interview. I never thought in a million years I would have the honor of talking directly to Dan. I hope that you all get to learn as much as I did, and take away the incredible lessons he shares.
